It is seldom that I have the opportunity to do a product shoot. Product shoot can be a lot of fun, but at the same time, it can be extremely boring. Depending on the subject. Sometimes, you have to sit there and wait for the "stylist" to set up the scene, then you work for a few minutes to get the shot you want, then the "stylist" goes over and touches up the product, then you have another few minutes to get a few more shots in. That is pretty much how a product shoot goes :)
I am a portrait photographer so shooting non-moving object is not my first choice :) I love the interaction I get with all of my clients, but once in a while, a product shoot can be fun. Especially if the product shoot is about food...yum! Tonight, I tested my lights with a cherry (aka the product). I thought that I put this up for you to see. What do you think? You think I have a career in food photography? heh

Hmm... a future in food photography? Maybe... but I think your wedding and portrait work is awesome and you should probably stick with that. :)
