Margie and Jeff live in New York City as successful attorneys. Margie called me up approximately 3 months ago looking for a wedding photographer. They are going to have a small wedding out here at the wine country and the details of the wedding. We spoke for a while over the phone and immediately I can tell that we have a great connection. By the way, Margie has this coolest English accent :)
The wedding was a small and an intimate one at Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in St. Helena. The architecture and the location was just awesome. The food was A-M-A-Z-ing. I guess they don't call it CIA for nothing!
Here is a collage of action pictures. It was intense and I felt like I was in the middle of a reality show!!
Here is a shot that I took inside Margie's room through the peep-hole. The "boys" were talking and waiting outside the door.
Beautiful reception location inside the barrel room of the CIA
This shot was amazingly difficult to shoot. It was PITCH DARK in there, so I shot with my 85mm 1.2L at 1.2 and ISO 3200. Worked out great!!
We were at the CIA, so we had to sneak up to the open kitchen for a few fun shots

Wow! How far away did you have to be to maintain decent DOF on that f/1.2 ISO 3200 shot?
Good question Chris. It is difficult to maintain DOF shooting at wide open, BUT...if you are far enough, for example, 10 ft away, the lens goes into an infinite focus mode, meaning anything it hits, it will be focus. The shallow DOF only happens if you are close to the subject. Hope this helps.
Yea, rub it in the fine food that I missed... :P
great low light shot. love the candles on the floor, so romantic.
great peep hole shot!
