Wow, what a wonderful day we had!!! We started the workshop at 10am sharp and all of the students were ON TIME!!! Each workshop is limited to 5 people which makes each workshop more intimate and gives every student the opportunity to ask their questions. Usually we start the day by hanging out around my kitchen, eating breakfast and enjoying coffee. This is a good way to start the day and to break the ice. We then moved into my living room to begin my presentation. Before we talk about photography, everyone gives a brief introduction about themselves and shares what they want to take away from the workshop. My theory about this workshop is that you should walk away feeling much better about your camera and your ability to take photos. I personally share my own "tips and tricks' --- everything from how best to compose a picture to how to handle different lighting situations. This is the most valuable in my opinion. There are so many features and functions on a camera. Who has the time to figure out how to use every function?! I'll help you weed through the jungle of features and focus on what is important in order to get the best looking photos.
After 2 hours of presentation, we head out for lunch and talk more shop!! There are so many questions flying around the table that all of us learned a ton about one another's shooting style. After our lunch, we spent 45 mins doing an on-location shoot. The purpose of the on-location shoot is for students to practice shooting using the information I shared in the morning presentation to create better images. We come back to the studio at the end of the day for critique. This is where the fun begins :) This is when I get to play Simon Cowell (like American Idol)....nah, I am NEVER that mean :)
Anyhow, we had an AWESOME AWESOME day. Couldn't have been better. Special thanks to all my students --- Shannen, Alice, John, Kate and Tammy for a wonderful time.
Here are pics to share:
